Gelston Irish
Single Malt
Not having tried Gelston Irish Single Malt before, and
it being on offer for around 22GBP a bottle, I thought it rude not to buy a bottle. I am glad I did. The whisky is a sweeter, easy drinking whisky
still at 40% with hints of fruit cake. I
will copy the tasting notes from Masters of Malt below but wanted to take this
opportunity to mention, that during the now 11 weeks of lockdown, the weather
has been mainly hot and sunny, very unusual for the UK.
We have mostly managed at least one daily walk and
sometimes two (since we were allowed out more than once) and very occasionally
take a hip flask with us to enjoy a wee dram on the lovely walk very close to our
current house in Devon. We regularly see
sheep, cows – sometimes they enjoy an ear rub, horses and an array of birds including
a kestrel than is usually being chased by crows, blue tits, sparrows, robins, starlings,
and the occasional chaffinch.
Anyway, back to Gelston’s – here is what Master’s of
Malt have to say: -
